"In all things God may be glorified"--Rule of St. Benedict
The monastery is consecrated in a special way to prayer and work for the Unity of the Church and has as its main concern the ultimate reunion of the Christian East and the Christian West. Through constant prayer and study, and through openness and dialogue, we wish to anticipate in faith and love the reality of the One Undivided Church of Jesus Christ. Ecumenical dialogue, especially with our Eastern Orthodox brethren is of special interest to the monastery. The cultivation of beauty and the arts are primarily directed to the worship of God. Among the art forms, music has a particular importance, because it is utilized daily in our monastic worship. Both the Gregorian chant and the Russian monastic chant are employed in the monastic offices.
